Our Mission

The Education and Youth Exchange Committee of Tampa Sister Cities cultivates global understanding through educational partnerships, youth programming, and international academic exchange. We serve as the primary liaison between Tampa’s educational institutions and our sister cities around the world, ensuring that students and educators alike have meaningful opportunities to engage in cross-cultural learning and diplomacy.

What We Do

We lead and support initiatives that open the world to Tampa’s students—and bring the world to them. Our responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining partnerships with local schools, colleges, and universities
  • Facilitating "sister school" linkages between Tampa and its sister cities
  • Leading youth exchanges, cultural events, and educational delegations
  • Representing Tampa in Sister Cities International (SCI) youth programs
  • Coordinating student welcome events, global learning initiatives, and academic collaborations

Whether it’s organizing a student-led cultural fair, supporting virtual classroom exchanges, or welcoming international university students to Tampa, we ensure every initiative reflects the values of global friendship, learning, and cooperation.

Our Role

The Education and Youth Exchange Committee is the exclusive coordinator for all youth and education-focused activities within Tampa Sister Cities. While other affiliate committees may propose ideas or help support events, all youth initiatives must be developed and executed by this committee to maintain consistency, quality, and institutional relationships—especially with Tampa’s universities and schools.
