Alfred Goldberg

President

Alfred Goldberg has been a driving force in Tampa’s international outreach efforts for over a decade. He joined the Tampa Sister Cities Board in 2012, following a diplomatic delegation with then-Mayor Bob Buckhorn to Tampa’s Sister Cities Ashdod, Israel and Barranquilla, Colombia. Inspired by the power of citizen diplomacy, Alfred quickly became one of the most active leaders in the organization.

He served as the first Chair of the Tampa–Porto Alegre Affiliate Committee, and accompanied Mayor Buckhorn to Brazil for the official signing ceremony establishing the Sister City relationship with Porto Alegre.

Alfred has played a central role in fostering relationships with Barranquilla (Colombia), Lanzhou (China), Ashdod (Israel), and Porto Alegre (Brazil), while also supporting the exploration of new partnerships in India and Japan. His commitment to cross-cultural exchange, international cooperation, and global friendship has earned him the informal title of Tampa’s “International Ambassador.”

Whether attending a diplomatic reception or celebrating at a cultural festival, Alfred can be found at nearly every international event in Tampa, proudly representing the city’s spirit of global connection.
